As we know, using TiVo box, we can record TV shows. Then we can easily transfer the recorded TV shows to our PC or Mac so that we can watch our favourite TV shows anytime. Moreover, we can put backups of our TV recordings to Kindle Fire for playback anytime and everywhere. It is not complicated. Just several steps we will realize it. If someone concerns about this, please read the article below carefully.
Here it mainly provides an easy solution to transfer recorded TV shows (*.tivo) from your TiVo box so as to backup and play the TiVo recordings on the Amazon Kindle Fire. Below is the two parts:
Part One: Transfer TV recordings from TiVo box to your PC
Part Two: Convert TiVo TV shows to Kindle Fire supported video format
Part One: Transfer TV recordings (TiVo, TiVo HD, TS TiVo shows) from TiVo box to your PC.
Make sure you have installed TiVo Desktop Software on your computer, and your TiVo box is connected to your home network. It is so easy to transfer recorded TV shows from your TiVo box to your PC or Mac. For details, you can access the instructions on how to transfer TiVo file to PC from their website.
Part Two: Convert TiVo TV shows to Kindle Fire supported video format
According to reviews, Kindle Fire has format limitation, it only supports mp4, vp8. As you see, the recorded TV shows in TiVo format can not be played on the Kindle Fire. In order to play tivo on the Fire Tablet, we have to convert TiVo videos to H.264 MP4 which is compatible with Kindle Fire. Pavtube Kindle Fire Video Converter will do the conversion job for you.
To be honest, I use Pavtube for coverting TiVo videos for Kindle Fire(I borrowed from my friend). It works very well and I haven’t really had any problems. Conversion speed seems fine and the videos look good on the Kindle Fire. I saw Pavtube mentioned in the TiVo forums as a good way to convert for the Kindle Fire so I decided to try it. It’s much better than TiVo’s converter. TiVo’s converters for mobile devices are terrible and have many problems.
Follow the steps given below.
1. Install and run the comprehensive TiVo to Kindle Fire Converter on your PC, and then add your transferred TV shows into the program.

(Notice: Enter the Media Access Key of your TiVo recordings into the “Open > TiVo” of the program to quickly import your TiVo recordings.)
2. Choose Kindle Fire supported video format by clicking on “Format > Android > Nook Color(*.mp4)” to quickly get output format for Nook Color that can also be played on the Amazon Android-based Tablet with high quality.
Tip:
In order to get Kindle Fire supported video in a good balance between video quality and file size, just click on “Settings” to set bitrate as 1500 kbps, resolution as 1024×600 and frame rate as 30 fps. Or you just keep the default setting. (Please remember the higher bitrate, the better video quality while the larger file size.)
3. Convert/Transcode TiVo to H.264 MP4 for Kindle Fire by clicking “Convert” button.
Once getting the converted TiVo files from the default output folder, you can quickly copy them on your Kindle Fire by using a USB cable. After that, you can enjoy and play recorded TV shows (*.tivo) Kindle Fire anytime and everywhere as you wish.
